Why do I need to verify my Grab account?

Unlocking all the app features of Grab requires that you verify your identity, which is also in line with the Know Your Customer (KYC) requirement of the Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

This process is important in order to prevent identity theft and assure the BSP that there is no money laundering happening.

Having a GrabPay Wallet account is equivalent to having a standard bank account, since you can also receive and send money, even without a fee.

If you have no idea yet on how to verify your grab account, read these steps:

Steps to verifying Grab account

The two wallet levels have different requirements but if you are only casually using Grab services, the process can be combined:

Step 1: Open the Grab app, and go to Account, Edit Profile, and enter your name and email address if not yet provided.

Step 2: Use your account up to a year or until you have reached and needed the monthly cash in limit, whichever is earlier.

Step 3: Go to Payment from the home page and click on the Verification Status banner which indicates you have an incomplete profile.

Step 4: Choose your source of income such as Salary, Remittance, Personal Savings, Inheritance, and Others.

Step 5: Select your ID type which can only be Passport, TIN, NBI Clearance, UMID, Driver’s License, SSS, Voter’s, or Postal ID.

Step 6:  Type your ID number, then take a clear photo.

Step 7: Take a selfie as prompted by the app for the live verification.

Step 6: You will notice that your account is undergoing review, you need to wait for 2 to 3 days to get verified.

You can skip step 2 and upgrade your Wallet to Level 2 at any time, even if you have just registered to the Grab Superapp.

Also, persons below 18 years old can only use the Level 1 Standard Wallet.

Kindly note that foreigners can only use their Passport as valid ID for verification.

Why I Cannot verify my Grab account?

Grab will not be able to verify your account if you have provided a wrong email address, you have more than 1 account, have provided expired documentation requirements, or have a different information in anything you have submitted.

You may need to take again your selfie or submit additional proof of address such as utility bill, phone bill, internet bill, or bank statement.

Just go to the Payment section, click on the verification status banner, and follow the additional instructions.

How to know if your Grab account is verified?

You will know that your Grab account is verified if you have already received a confirmation email from Grab, or if you can see in the Payment section that you are fully verified.

Alternatively, the easiest way to check is to try to send your GrabPay money to another e-Wallet app or bank, which should be successful.

Select users who are fully verified can also have GrabPay Card, PayLater, and receive money from overseas feature.

Can I use GrabPay without verification?

Yes, you can use GrabPay and the other features of the Grab superapp even if you are not fully verified but only up to 1 year.

Take note that signing up to the Grab app requires mobile number verification which is only 1 step away from partial verification, which also requires email.

The verification steps are easy to follow so you should do it today.
